In Memory of Luis Salinas

2024 saw a significant loss for chess in not just Dallas, but all of Texas. Luis Salinas was a long-time Tournament Director and the heart of the Dallas Chess Club for over 25 years. He was the president of the Dallas Chess Club and Assistant Director of the University of Texas at Dallas Chess Program. He was a FIDE Arbiter and US Chess Senior Tournament Director. He has been a mentor and friend to tournament directors and many young chess players over the years and will be greatly missed.
In 2017, we featured a special article in The Bimonthly Blitz on Luis and thought we’d re-share this link with you: https://www.chessmovesinc.org/_files/ugd/4dadea_32a317dfc79443b8a33b801b347dfca9.pdf.
