Fundraisers for Luis Salinas

We want to pass along a couple of special fund-raising efforts for Luis Salinas, a long-time Tournament Director and the heart of the Dallas Chess Club for over 25 years who has encountered some serious health conditions and has been in rehabilitation since the summer. He has been a mentor and friend to tournament directors and many young chess players over the years. As a blast from the past, in 2017, we featured a special article in The Bimonthly Blitz on Luis and thought we’d re-share this link with you: https://www.chessmovesinc.org/_files/ugd/4dadea_32a317dfc79443b8a33b801b347dfca9.pdf.

There are a couple of fundraising opportunities to assist Luis with his medical and rehabilitation expenses, including a blitz fundraising tournament tonight. We encourage everyone to participate and donate. Any amount helps immensely.

There is a blitz fundraiser tournament for Luis being held tonight at the Irving location of the Texas Chess Center, located at 4343 W. Royal Ln. #114, Irving, Texas, starting at 7:00pm. Here is a link to further information: https://www.texaschesscenter.com/store/p/blitz This will be an extremely fun event and a reunion of many of the old Dallas Chess Club crowd. GM Jeffrey Xiong will be participating, along with many others that played at the Dallas Chess Clubs through the years. Jeffrey will be donating winnings and the TCC will also donate a portion of the event proceeds to Luis' medical expenses.
It warms our hearts to see the efforts that have been undertaken for Luis who is near and dear to all of us. We are looking forward to seeing many of you tonight and all please have a great and safe New Year!

As we at Chess Moves like to say . . .it's your Move . . .
